Regional Coordinator BETH VOILS has worked with teachers and students
since she began her involvement with the cable industry's Cable in the
Classroom initiative in 1989. She has conducted workshops for students
and teachers on subjects such as Cable in the Classroom programming
and television production; has designed and composed Class Notes, a
monthly newsletter with a distribution of 11,000 teachers; and has facilitated
cable and Internet access to local schools.
Mrs. Voils has scripted and edited a variety of educational PSA's, teacher
vignettes, and entire segments for television shows. In 1994 Mrs. Voils
helped to produce Beyond the Classroom, a one-hour, live, monthly
series that featured high school students. From 1995 to 1997 she has been
the Associate Producer for Education is Everybody's Business, a monthly
television series which highlighted projects and activities of the Duval
Public Education Foundation; Atlantic Tails, a behind-the-scenes
look at the Museum of Science and History's exhibit on the marine
mammals found in northeastern Florida, and Artworks '96, a show that
featured student artwork. She was also the Associate Producer for a local
episode of Continental Cablevision of Jacksonville's View Smart
to Vote Smart election series which explored the political process with
students.
