Instructor JANET NEIPRIS is an Associate Professor of Dramatic
Writing and is Chair of the Dramatic Writing Program at New
York University's Tisch School of the Arts. She holds a B.A. from
Tufts, an M.A. from Simmons College, and an M.F.A. from
Brandeis. She received a Shubert Fellowship and a National
Endowment for the Arts grant in playwriting as well as a Rockefeller
Fellowship in 1989-1990 for A Small Delegation and in 1992 she
was awarded a W. Alton Jones grant for its production in Philadelphia.
Her plays include: 703 Walk Hill, Statues, Exhibition, and The
Bridge at Belharbour (Goodman Theatre, Center Stage in Baltimore, Arena
Stage, Manhattan Theatre Club), Separations (Arena Stage, Playwrights
Horizons workshop), Flying Horses (University of Montana), Out of
Order (Circle Repertory Company), The Agreement (Philadelphia
Festival Theatre of New Plays), Almost in Vegas (Manhattan Punch Line
Theatre). Her radio plays include: The Agreement (Manhattan Punch Line
Theatre), and The Desert (National Public Radio, Earplay). Ms.
Neipris' musical compositions include: Notes on a Life (music and
lyrics, American Place Theatre, Women's Project), and incidental music for
numerous stage productions. She has written comedy pilots for ABC,
CBS, and Embassy Television. Her publications include The
Agreement, in The Best Short Plays of 1986.
